We invite you to participate in “The Dream Is Now” website (the “Site”). You may use the Site to sign the petition calling for a path to citizenship for undocumented youth. You may also share your story and the reasons you support the DREAM Act.

The Site is owned and operated by Emerson Collective (“EC”). Please read the following Privacy Policy carefully before using the Site. By accessing or viewing the Site, uploading content to the Site, and/or participating in or using any service offered on the Site (collectively and individually the “Services”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy. From time to time, EC may decide to modify, add, or delete portions of this Privacy Policy. If it does so, your continued use of the Services after any such changes have been made means you agree to such changes.


This Privacy Policy is incorporated into, and is a part of, EC’s Terms of Use located here ("Terms"), which also govern your use of the Services. Capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy have the definitions provided in the Terms.

Personal Information.

EC collects and stores information that you enter in connection with the Services. To use some Services, EC may collect limited personal information that can identify you or that can be used with other sources of information to identify you (“Personal Information”). For example, the “Sign the Petition,” and “Share Your Story” Services, including the video upload and writing your story functions, require you to submit your email address, first and last name, month and year of birth, city, and state, some of which you may pre-populate from your Facebook account. You may also be prompted to upload a photograph or a video or textual narrative that shares your story and the reasons you support the DREAM Act (“User Content”).

Additionally, if you participate in the university contest, you will be prompted to identify your graduation year and the name of your university, college, or other institute of higher education.

Anonymous Information.

When you use the Site, EC may also collect certain information that does not identify you individually (“Anonymous Information”). For example, EC may collect your IP address, browser information, and website domain name every time you use the Services. EC may also collect information regarding user-traffic patterns and website usage.

Use of Cookies.

Cookies are small files that store information about your web browser, computer, mobile phone, or other device. Most websites use cookies to enable special features or to provide users with a better, faster, or safer experience.

We use cookies to make the Site better and easier to use, to provide you with a more personalized experience, and to protect you, others, and EC from malicious activity.

We do not use cookies to create a profile of your browsing behavior on third-party sites.

You may be able remove or block cookies using the settings in your browser, but in some cases, this may impact your ability to use the Site.

Use of Your Information.

EC may use Anonymous Information to help it determine how its users interact with the Services so that it can improve the Services and make them more useful. EC may also use or share with others Anonymous Information in any other manner that EC deems appropriate or necessary. For example, we will use third-party services such as Google Analytics to better understand traffic patterns on the Site and identify problems.

EC and/or its partners may use your Personal Information to contact you about programs and opportunities related to the mission of the Site.

EC may share your Personal Information with third parties that perform certain functions for the Site, such as marketing, lobbying, website development or hosting, web analytics, and documentary development. These entities have access to the Personal Information needed to perform their functions and are instructed to maintain the confidentiality and security of Personal Information, except that they may disclose Personal Information as described below in “Public Forum.”

Public Forum.

When you contribute to a public area of this Site, certain Personal Information that you submit will be made available to the general public. When you “Sign the Petition” by entering your personal information or using your Facebook Account, your first name, last initial, photograph, and state will be posted to the Site. Additionally, your full name, city, state, and comments will be compiled for submission to the President, legislators, or other targets. When you “Share Your Story,” your first name, last initial, photo, state, and User Content may be posted to the Site.

User Content as well as your first name and last initial may also be used in “The Dream Is Now” documentary, which will be posted to the Site and may be exploited via other means or media, such as (for example only) television, motion picture and/or other websites.

Additionally, if you participate in the university contest, EC and/or its partners may aggregate your information regarding your graduation date and the name of your university, college, or institute of higher education with the information of other users, to publicly report progress in or the results of university contest. EC recommends that you use caution when submitting User Content and avoid sharing any sensitive information such as your full name, home address, phone number, the name and/or exact location of your school or workplace, or other information that would enable users to locate you or information about you. EC also recommends that you review all User Content prior to submitting it to ensure its accuracy and ensure it contains no information that you are not comfortable sharing.

Legally Compelled Disclosures.

EC may disclose Personal Information to government authorities, and to other third parties when compelled to do so under law (and/or under a reasonable interpretation of the law), including, without limitation, in response to court orders and subpoenas.

Other Disclosures.

EC may also use or disclose Personal Information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (i) conform to applicable law; (ii) protect and defend its rights or property, the Site or its users; or (iii) act under emergency circumstances to protect the personal safety of EC, its users, or others.

Links and Other Websites.

This Privacy Policy only applies to the information collected while you are on the Site. Postings on the Site may include links to third party websites, whose information practices may be different than ours. Visitors should consult the other websites’ privacy notices as we have no control over information that is submitted to, or collected by, these third parties.

Archiving and Display of Postings by Other Sites.

Search engines and other websites unaffiliated with EC may archive or otherwise make available information publicly displayed on the Site.

Transfer in the Event of Reorganization.

In the event that EC, any affiliate of EC, or substantially all of its assets are acquired by one or more third parties as a result of an acquisition, merger, sale, reorganization, consolidation, or liquidation, Personal Information may be one of the transferred assets.


EC implements and maintains reasonable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information, to protect the personal information from unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. You understand and agree, however, that no transmission of data over the internet is guaranteed to be completely secure. It may be possible for third parties not under the control of EC to intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully, including in the case of your contacting EC by email or a “contact us” or similar feature on the Site. EC cannot guarantee that information, during transmission through the internet or while stored on its system or otherwise in its care, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers. Any such transmission is done at your own risk.


The Site is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. EC does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that EC may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.


This Privacy Policy will be interpreted under the laws of the United States. To the extent you are accessing the Site from outside of the United States, you do so at your own risk. If you are located outside the United States, you should be aware that your Personal Information will be transferred to the United States. The data protection laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as those in your country. By using this Site, you consent to your information being collected, used, and transferred as set forth in this privacy statement.
